As a global company operating in 67 countries and serving 100 million consumers every day, we are in a unique position to make a real difference. This was why in 1996, Sodexo employees banded together to launch Stop Hunger, our very own non-profit network to help local communities permanently escape hunger and malnutrition.

Stop Hunger is an eco-system of our 470,000 employees, our consumers, thousands of clients, shareholders and suppliers who have contributed to the cause in one way or another. In addition to gathering donations and making payroll-giving possible, we serve millions of meals annually worldwide and work with local partners and NGOs to empower communities. In Cambodia, our work impacts students (girls whose families suffer from food shortage) from the Happy Chandara School near Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The provision of healthy meals and creation of vegetable gardens at the school allow the girls to continue their education while feeding the local residents.

Our annual Servathon event and year-round community engagement programmes strive to alleviate hunger for disadvantaged groups. To date, we have served beneficiaries of the The Food Bank Singapore, Community Chest, Lions Befrienders, Thye Hua Kuan Senior Centre, Willing Hearts and Mountbatten Vocational School.

stop hungerIn December 2017, we created a “pop-up” supermarket at the Thye Hua Kuan Senior Centre at Ang Mo Kio to bring food supplies to the elderly in a fun, novel way. Some 220 volunteers, made up of our staff, families and clients, also stepped in to distribute hundreds of nutritious meals and goodie bags to seniors in the Ang Mo Kio estate. Monetary donations raised went towards The Food Bank Singapore and THK.

stop hungerA week-long campaign was launched as part of Servathon 2018, where volunteers across departments lent their support to Willing Hearts, a soup kitchen that prepares, cooks and distributes about 5,000 meals daily to over 40 locations island-wide. Beneficiaries include the elderly, disabled, low-income families, children from single-parent families and migrant workers. The event ended on a high note as some 200 of us put up an entertaining event, wholesome lunch and nutrition tips included, for 100 seniors living in one to two-room flats at Circuit Road.

stop hungerFor Servathon 2019, we dedicated an entire month to various activities to raise funds for Mountbatten Vocational School and The Food Bank Singapore. Highlights include a carnival we put together for the beneficiaries of Mountbatten Vocational School, comprising of game booths, nutrition demonstrations and energetic performances.
