HMP Addiewell a 796-place maximum security prison for male offenders in Scotland run by Sodexo Justice Services for the Scottish Prison Service at Addiewell, near West Calder in West Lothian.
The prison opened in December 2008. In common with our other custodial projects, Addiewell was delivered on time and within budget.
Sodexo Justice Services operates the prison under a 25-year contract to the Scottish Prison Service.
Since opening the prison has become an integral part of the Scottish Prison Service estate earning much praise from among others HMCIP, for its innovation, use of technology, strong partnership working as well as its “can do” culture.
The prison is a major employer in the local area and is well established at community based forums and decision making tables relating to Safer Scotland priorities.
